The 2020 Awesome is bold with flavors of dark cherry, blackcurrant and cocoa with a hint of baking spices and a splash of Awesome!

We are releasing our second vintage of Awesome this month in honor of a very special little girl who was a part of the Sigillo Cellars family. She passed away from childhood cancer in August of 2020.

As part of this special release, we are donating 10% of each bottle purchase back to Seattle Children’s Cancer Care to help other children and families going through childhood cancer.

This wine was made in her memory and we named it “Awesome” because to Colette, no matter what she was going through, anytime someone asked her how she was doing, her response was always “Awesome”! She was a happy, strong, outgoing little girl and loved being at the winery.

E & E Shaw Vineyards

Our 12 acre vineyard is planted with the 3 major Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, in the world famous Red Mountain Apellation. It was planted for us in 1997 by Eve’s brother, Fred Artz. It’s planted on a 9′ X 6′ spacing, bilateral cordon trained, and is spur pruned to produce approximately 10 lbs. per vine or about 3 1/2 tons per acre. We hand prune, thin and harvest and use no herbicides. We practice integrated pest management with a very soft, sustainable spray program. Because we are small, we can take great care in hand raising our grapes. We believe that exceptional wine is largely made in the vineyard. Our 100% estate grown red wines are proof of the high quality of our vineyard.

Sigillo Cellars sources Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Shaw vineyards.

The Wine Panel

2019: 94 Points: To date, this was our highest scoring Cabernet. A panel of judges can be a tough audience when the winemaker is no where to be found. Having said that, when all of the judges came around to discussing this wine, there was a universal appreciation for this Cab. Cabernet shouldn’t be too soft, but soft enough to be fun to drink. Silky with very fine tannins. Ripe but not overripe fruit, with a myriad of dark flavors like plum, blackberry, even blueberry, along with enough toast and vanilla from a nice barrel aging without being overdone. In the end, elegant, classy, and well, awesome.
